This month, we are hosted by Robert C. Beck and Sarah Max Beck of Studio Hydrostatic, a bio-art research studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
It seems that questions of survival are becoming even more potent than they were when we started SoA in 2015. Many of us will be losing health insurance in 2018. Some of us may be deported. Many will fall deeper into debt.
Things may have been changing quickly then, but they are changing even more rapidly now.
In moments like this it's appealing to get down to basics and focus on physical survival. Studio Hydrostatic will be a perfect place for that. We'll explore the relationship between creative practices and systems engineering. We will learn about techniques in life support design, and think through the relationships between ecology, culture, and aesthetics in dark and dangerous times.
Feel free to bring beer/wine/snacks.
The studio entrance is at 142 13th Street, Brooklyn, NY. 11215
